Presenters are trained by Don McCann, a National Type A Provider.
All workshops are CEU approved by National (Type A) and Florida State

These workshops are the Integrative Structural Therapy (IST) Workshops and are not the Advanced SET Workshops. The protocols are intermediate-level soft-tissue work and very effectively relieve symptoms. These hands-on techniques can be incorporated into your current practice, and will greatly enhance the effectiveness of your work.

OUR TEACHING GOAL:  Participants will leave the weekend with an understanding of the techniques presented, and the confidence and ability to effectively apply these techniques and protocols. The teachers create a professional informal atmosphere for learning which includes plenty of hands-on application of the techniques as well as individual support.  We believe in making learning fun!

Workshops are normally scheduled on weekends. One exception is the Carpal Tunnel Certification when done in a four-day training.  See calendar for current schedule.

RELIEF FROM BACK PAIN - IST  (14 CEU's)  The pelvis supports the structure of the body.  Releasing old structural patterns in this area will relieve low back and leg pain, as well as facilitate rehabilitation from painful conditions throughout the body and provide support for balanced postural alignment.

You will learn:
    ~anatomy
~methods of determining structural pain patterns
    ~to recognize postural distortions
    ~techniques to address distortions
    ~protocols for pelvic balancing
    ~myofascial spreading and unwinding techniques
~specific trigger point and individual fiber releases
    ~scheduling frequency for optimum healing

Conditions relieved with this protocol include sciatica, bulging and herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, arthritis, limited range of motion in hips, knees and back, sprains/strains and other injuries to the back and legs.  This protocol can be used in its entirety, or be integrated into other massage routines.

RELIEF FROM HEAD, NECK, SHOULDER PAIN- IST  (14 CEU's)  Headaches and neck, shoulder, and upper back pain are among the most common complaints due to high stress, car accidents, an abundance of computer operators, and structural imbalances.

You will learn:
    ~anatomy
~methods of determining structural pain patterns
    ~to recognize postural distortions
    ~techniques to address distortions
    ~a Quick Release Technique
    ~myofascial spreading and unwinding techniques
~specific trigger point and individual fiber releases
    ~scheduling frequency for optimum healing

Conditions relieved with this protocol include headaches, flexion/extension injuries, bulging and herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, arthritis, limited range of motion in the neck and shoulder, torticollis, carpal tunnel symptoms, vertebral artery compression syndrome, and sprain/strain injuries.  This protocol can be used in its entirety, or be integrated into other massage routines.

The Quick Release Technique will relieve headaches, neck, and shoulder pain, quickly relaxes uptight clients, and prepares clients for deeper work.  Protocol takes 10-15 minutes to apply - great practice builder! (This technique is also taught as a mini-workshop as a therapy on its own).   (calendar)

SPECIAL MUSCLES  OF THE BODY - IST   (14 CEU's)  The focus is on muscles, myofascial patterns and viscera associated with the abdomen.  Illness, stress, surgery, postural imbalances, trapped emotions or life changes all tend to affect the normal function of abdominal organs.

You will learn:
    ~anatomy
~methods of determining structural pain patterns
~techniques to treat specific conditions & symptoms
    ~myofascial spreading and unwinding techniques
    ~specific visceral releases
    ~individual fiber releases
    ~scar tissue and adhesion releases
    ~scheduling frequency for optimum healing

Conditions relieved with this protocol include abdominal adhesions from surgery and endometriosis, spastic colon, spastic ileocecal valve, colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, difficulty in moving bowels, nervous stomach/ulcers, hiatal hernias, esophageal spasms, restricted breathing, lymph flow.  This protocol can be used in its entirety, or be integrated into other massage routines.    (calendar)

RELIEF FROM CARPAL TUNNEL and OTHER NERVE ENTRAPMENTS (I) - IST
(14 CEU's)  The primary cause of carpal tunnel and nerve entrapment of the arms is structural imbalance resulting in specific strain patterns, a factor that is often overlooked and not addressed in the treatment of these conditions.

You will learn:
    ~anatomy
~postural distortions that contribute to this problem
    ~techniques to release these distortions
~ to recognize symptoms related to nerve entrapment
~ to treat nerve pathways for nerve entrapment
    ~protocols for effective treatment
    ~myofascial spreading and unwinding techniques
~specific trigger point and individual fiber releases
    ~scheduling frequency for optimum healing

Conditions relieved with this protocol include numbness in hands/fingers, weakness in arms/hands/fingers, swelling in hands/forearms, inflammation around joints in elbow/wrist/hands/fingers, adhesion build-up in arm, progressive immobility in fingers/hands/wrist/elbows, shoulder/arm/wrist/hand/finger pain, tennis elbow, trigger finger, tendonitis, and more.  This protocol can be used in its entirety, or be integrated into other massage routines.

This is a prerequisite for Carpal Tunnel II, and for carpal tunnel certification.  ( I & II can be taught in one four day training, or two weekend sessions or two 2-day  sessions.)   (calendar)          (See Published Article on Carpal Tunnel)

RELIEF FROM CARPAL TUNNEL and OTHER NERVE ENTRAPMENTS (II) - IST
 (14 CEU's)
This advanced level course is designed to expand and refine the skills learned in Carpal Tunnel I (a prerequisite for Carpal Tunnel II)

You will learn:
    ~advanced SET techniques
~to reassess of strain patterns & structural distortions
    ~cranial/structural components and releases
~advanced directed myofascial unwinding & releases
~advanced scar tissue and adhesion releases
~techniques to prepare you to handle complex cases

Added bonus: a self-treatment protocol will be presented to teach you how to maintain your own hands and arms to reduce or prevent carpal tunnel / nerve entrapment symptoms from occurring.  Your hands and arms are your tools and need to be adequately maintained for you to effectively help others!

Carpal Tunnel Certification: Attend both Carpal Tunnel I and II workshops and complete the certification process. Carpal Tunnel Therapists trained by Don in this protocol now have very successful full practices doing only carpal tunnel therapy five days a week!       (calendar)

CRANIAL/STRUCTURAL SOFT TISSUE RELEASES I - IST
(presented by Don McCann)    (16 CEU=s)
      (See Cranial/Structural Article)
Cranial/Structural releases (not to be confused with craniosacral) can be the single most important therapeutic technique for pain relief.  90% of client pain, whether it be neck, low back, headaches, carpal tunnel, knee, foot, or hip, can be directly related to the cranial/structural core distortion pattern.  You need the knowledge and the tools to release these cranial/structural patterns in order to release the pelvic imbalances of the core distortion pattern - once this basic distortion is released, it will not return unless a major traumatic injury occurs - even then the full distortion will not be present!  These techniques can be integrated into any soft tissue treatment, and they will initiate dramatic structural changes from the beginning of the first session. Clients often report relief almost immediately, and their confidence in you as a therapist will quickly be established. (To our knowledge, no one else is teaching this technique.)

You will learn:
    ~cranial anatomy
    ~cranial rhythms
    ~core distortion pattern
    ~structural evaluation
    ~body reading
    ~cranial/structural relationships
    ~soft tissue cranial releases
    ~muscle testing and kinesiology
    ~correction of structural distortions

CRANIAL/STRUCTURAL SOFT TISSUE RELEASES II - IST
(presented by Don McCann)   (16 CEU's)     (see Cranial/Structural Article)
The focus of this workshop is to expand and refine the skills and knowledge presented in Cranial/Structural Soft Tissue Releases I that relate to the core distortion of the body structure. These releases will continue to reverse the structural core distortion that can be responsible for 90% of client pain. These techniques can be integrated into any soft tissue treatment, and are an extension of the releases learned in CST I to facilitate dramatic structural changes from the beginning of the first session. Clients often report immediate relief, and their confidence in you as a therapist will increase.

You will learn:
    ~Cranial anatomy and structural patterns
    ~Advanced muscle testing and kinesiology
    ~Cranial/structural releases
    ~Cranial soft tissue releases
    ~Cranial strain releases
    ~Structural strain releases
    ~body reading
~cranial relationships to body distortion patterns
~special relationships of cranial sutures and:
            feet
            carpal tunnel
            neck and headaches
            knee
            hip
            low back
            thoracic
            shoulder
~Quick Release Technique for headache and neck pain
